EagleGet 2.0.4.13 is a free download manager for Windows. It takes over downloads from your browser, splits files into several parts to load them in parallel, and lets you pause and resume large downloads. Before you download EagleGet for Windows, keep in mind that the program has not been updated for a long time.
Download managers were essential when connections were slow and unreliable: a broken large download meant starting again from zero. EagleGet belonged to that generation of tools. It added a button to browsers, caught links to large files automatically, queued them, resumed broken downloads and could fetch video from web pages. A scheduler allowed downloads to run at night. For people with patchy connections, such features still make sense today. The issue is age. Browser extensions depend on browser versions, and browsers change their extension systems regularly; an integration that is not maintained eventually stops working or asks for broader permissions than it should. Websites also change the way they deliver video, so grabbers that are not updated fail on more and more pages.
The version in our catalogue is 2.0.4.13, and we have no official links for the project; its website may not be reachable. We do not claim that EagleGet has been officially discontinued, as there has been no announcement, but you should not expect updates or fixes. For software that handles downloads from the internet, that is a real drawback.

A download manager sits between the internet and your disk. It opens connections to many servers, parses web pages and hands files to other programs. Bugs in such code can be exploited, and without updates those bugs stay open. That is the main reason to prefer an actively developed tool, even if EagleGet still starts and seems to work on your PC.
Maintained download managers in our listings include Free Download Manager, AB Download Manager, Xtreme Download Manager (XDM), JDownloader and Internet Download Manager. For video from websites, yt-dlp is an actively developed command-line tool.
